Offering SHELTER and HOPE amidst the storm

Emergency Shelter

Leaving situations involving violence is a very scary time. We provide a safe and secure place for men, women or children who are fleeing a violent situation. We shelter victims for a temporary period of time while they are looking for a new, safe place to live.

Safe Harbor shelter is open and staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. The shelter is equipped with video cameras, and an alarm system that allow us direct contact to police dispatch. All client information that is shared with Safe Harbor staff is kept confidential.

While someone is staying with us we provide food for meal preparation, laundry facilities, and personal advocacy. We can also help find safe living arrangements, provide resources to pay for deposits and first month’s rent and obtain household furnishings. We assist in finding a job or filing to obtain a protection order if needed as well.

Our goal is to ensure that our clients feel comfortable and safe while staying with us.

If you’re in an unsafe relationship and in need of emergency shelter, please call us at 605-226-1212 or toll free at 888-290-2935. Or stop by our offices at 2005 S Merton Street just west of Aberdeen Central High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
