Youth Outreach Coordinator

This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Safe Harbor Youth Advocate Program. Hours vary including evenings and weekends as needed. Please provide a cover letter, resume and references by email.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field or early childhood development preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience working with domestic violence and sexual assault victims
  • Sensitivity to issues of family violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect
  • Sensitivity and awareness of issues related to diversity
  • Experience working with adolescents and teens in and out of the school setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child development, domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, child abuse, and the effects of violence on children
  • Strong advocacy skills, including:
    • The ability to identify the youth’s strengths and needs;
    • The ability to connect the youth to appropriate community resources;
    • The ability to respond to youth in crisis with appropriate interpersonal communication and intervention skills; and
    • Knowledge of and skills with legal advocacy.
  • Public speaking and group facilitations skills with ability to develop and monitor a youth task force
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
  • Ability to empower individuals in a time of need
  • Community resource coordination
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with computers and technology
  • Ability to work in complex situations and manage multiple tasks

Duties, Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Provide support, resources, education and advocacy services for adolescent and teen clients throughout the 7 counties Safe Harbor serves.
  • Provide services and activities to children
  • Assist clients with protection order process
  • Recognize and deal with crisis situations in a calm manner.
  • Network as a means of establishing awareness of Safe Harbor and the programs it provides.
  • Coordinate education and awareness activities for school aged youth.
  • Provide community education in counties Safe Harbor serves.
  • Assist in the development of Teen Support groups, and other community response teams such as SART/CCRT/MDT/CPT.
  • Promote positive public image of Safe Harbor and the Safe Harbor Shelter by establishing and maintaining community partnerships with agencies throughout the region.
  • Maintain knowledge on present resources available to children
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by Safe Harbor.

Kids Konnection Monitor

This position will assist with day-to-day operations of the Kids Konnection program. Hours vary including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field preferred.

  • Sensitivity and awareness of issues related to diversity.
  • Experience working with adolescents and children preferred .
  • Ability to empower individuals in a time of need.

  • Ability to work in complex situations and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to act as a member of a team.

Duties, Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Work directly with clients including victims of family violence, abuse, neglect. 
  • Provide supervision of visitations & exchanges between children and parents/guardians.
  • Provide a neutral environment for visits and exchanges through courteous, respectful treatment of clients.
  • Document observations specific to services provided by Kids Konnection.
  • Recognize and deal with crisis situations in a calm manner.
  • Provide court testimony if requested.
  • Assist in training staff/volunteers in Kids Konnection procedures.
  • Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Coordinator or Executive Director.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by Safe Harbor.

Shelter Advocate

We have multiple positions available to provide high quality performance in the day-to-day operation of the Safe Harbor Shelter. This position is aimed at staffing the shelter 24/7 so hours will be overnight and/or on weekends.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a human service field preferred.
  • Sensitivity to issues of family violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect.
  • Sensitivity and awareness of issues related to diversity.
  • Experience working with adolescents and children preferred.
  • Ability to empower individuals in a time of need.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with computers and technology.
  • Ability to work in complex situations and manage multiple tasks and crisis situations.
  • Ability to act as a member of a team.

Duties, Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Provide advocacy, case management, and resource and referral services for clients
  • Assure the needs of shelter clients are being met, such as food and personal items.
  • Enforce all shelter policies and procedures to ensure safety, security, and confidentiality for clients.
  • Perform duties in shelter as assigned by Shelter Coordinator.
  • Answer 24 hours crisis line in a professional and timely manner.
  • Recognize and deal with crisis situations in a calm manner.
  • Exercise appropriate decision-making in regard to shelter services, priorities and clients.
  • Promote positive public image of Safe Harbor and the Safe Harbor Shelter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shelter Coordinator or Executive Director.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by Safe Harbor.
