September Update

Hannah shares her experience on interning at Safe Harbor:

“Coming from a small town, I was never really exposed to the realities of our big world. Being an intern for Safe Harbor has shown me the true colors of the world around us. I have witnessed someone go from scared and fearing for life to shining bright on their own after escaping their past. I have stood next to men and women who had their worlds crash, and I watched a smile flash across their face. When life becomes a storm, we need shelter—Safe Harbor is that shelter for so many people past and present. I stepped foot into Safe Harbor when I was a sophomore volunteering. I walked next to a client from the beginning to the end of her protection order. I can remember this feeling of pride in what the young woman was doing for her life. She became safe, and I fell in love with the idea of helping people all over again. Now, as a senior at Presentation College, I am back for my internship. Being a part of Safe Harbor has made my heart feel whole, and it has become a place where I feel safe.  The people at Safe Harbor have shown me what it is like to be a wonderful work environment, and I am so thankful to be here.”
