Protection Orders
Assisting with Immediate Protection
Safe Harbor assists individuals with domestic violence or stalking protection orders from someone they fear. Protection orders protect you and your children from your abuser by forbidding a perpetrator from contacting, threatening, entering your home and going to your work.
Completing protection order paperwork can feel overwhelming, especially considering the emotional and/or physical duress you are facing. In addition to assisting with paperwork, we also offer advice and insight on what to expect before, during, and after the court hearing. We accompany victims to the court hearing as well, as we understand how challenging it is to face an abuser, especially while navigating something new.
Important Reminders About Your Protection Order
- Keep a copy of it in your purse or on your person
- Give a copy to your employer, your closest friend, and your child's school/daycare
- If you lose it or your abuser destroys it, get another copy from the court that issued it
- If your abuser violates the order (they do not have to hit you to violate it) call the police and report it
